The 'Pretty Potholder' [A Pattern Review]

Today, I had a chance to try out the Pretty Potholder Tutorial by Prudent Baby.  It was a great scrap-buster quickie project and super easy!  Okay, I admit that I wanted to cry over the bias-tape at first, but that was my own fault for not working with it more often (I used the double step method for a neater finish).  Quilting gurus will not blink an eye at this part.  Truly, though, it was a lot of fun to make.  I give it two thumbs up!

If you get your measurements noted, you may not need the step-by-step instructions, particularly because her visuals were fantastic.  I did a 'quick read' through the instructions on her tutorial and then I was good to go.  In my opinion, that's the sign of a great tutorial.  My only tweak was that I used a double layer of Insul-Bright (instead of cotton batting) for the 8x8 square and a single layer of it for the 5x8 layer.

So, go ahead...toss out your old, weary pot holders, and whip up some fresh new ones!

This project has been shared over at Skip To My Lou on 2.14.11.

Very cute! I also have these on my to-do list. All of our potholders are old and yucky. I found you by searching for coffee cozy tutorials. I'm going to try yours and I'll let you know how it turns out.
